This is Jialing Lin. My lab studies the Bcl-2 family of proteins that control mitochondrial membrane permeability to mitochondrial proteins and DNA to regulate cell death. In particular, we want to determine the structures of Bax pores that can be as wide as 10's to 100's nm using a wide range of methodology. We also want to develop small molecule tool compounds to modulate Bax activity with a long term goal of treating disease resulted from or in cell death.
