Mark E Nelson
Dr. Nelson is a Research Laureate in the Biotechnology division of Corteva Agriscience where he leads a team that is responsible for characterizing the mode of action of insecticidal proteins identified through Corteva’s trait discovery program. He obtained his PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Maryland School of Medicine (Baltimore, MD, USA) followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA, USA). Prior to joining Corteva, Dr. Nelson studied the functional and pharmacological properties of ligand-gated ion channels utilizing molecular and electrophysiological approaches. Similar methods are employed in the study of Corteva’s insecticidal proteins, many of which are pore forming proteins identified from biodiverse organisms including bacteria and plants.
